YouTube search Trends, that indicate search patterns over a period of time, indicate that Unconditionally Bae, a song by Kenya’s afropop band Sauti Sol and Tanzania’s Ali Kiba was the most trending YouTube video in Kenya. The song, which was published on the world’s largest online video platform on Thursday, March 10 has already garnered more than 900,000 views.
Second on the list was a clip of former Tuskys Chief Executive Officer Dan Githua being forcibly removed from his office by siblings of the company’s directors. The video, which was published on 23rd February, has received more than 70,000 views while a clip of an unknown lady asking President Uhuru Kenyatta to shake her hand while on a tour of Nakuru county last month was third on the list.
People also went on YouTube last month to watch Morris Mwendwa, the urchin who stole the hearts of Kenyans with his eloquence after he was captured on video asking for an opportunity to be educated. The video has, so far, received more than 150,000 views.
Fifth on the list was Wafula a song by acclaimed Jamaican dancehall singer Alaine Laughton featuring renowned comedian Daniel ‘Churchill’ Ndambuki . The song which was posted on YouTube on Sunday, 28 February has so far received more than 300,000 views.
Other trending YouTube videos were: Give it to me – the official music video of the song by Kenyan singer Akothee featuring Nigerian music artist Flavour; Bado – the official music video of the Tanzanian music artists Harmonize and Diamond; a teaser music video of the song Work by Rihanna and Canadian rapper Drake; a clip of an administration police officer falling down while marching before President Uhuru Kenyatta, during the Passing Out Parade ceremony held at the Administration Police Training College in Embakasi last month and LETITGO – the official video to the song by celebrated Kenyan musicians Nameless and Nyashinski.
