The submission deadline for the Kenya Blog Awards 2017 had been extended by about a month.
The deadline which was previously set at February 13, 2017, has now been extended to March 10, 2017. This offers an opportunity for people to vote for their favourite blogs in the Annual Blog Awards.
The Bloggers Association of Kenya (BAKE) recently announced the addition of a new category, Human Rights, which is sponsored by the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC). Ford Motors have also come on board as sponsors of the Lifestyle category.
Bloggers or their fans can submit their blogs in the competition by going to bakeawards.co.ke/submit.
The competition has grown year on year and in 2016, over 4800 blogs were entered into the competition and over 540,000 votes were recorded.
Some of the categories include: Creative Writing, Photography, Political, Best Technology and Best Business Blog among others.
The competition begins with a submission phase and thereafter judges will choose the best 5 from the submissions. The public will then vote for the best blog in each category.
Past winners of the Kenyan Blog Awards include: Mutua Matheka (mutuamatheka.co.ke), Silvia Njoki (silvianjoki.com), Wambui Waithaka (wambuiwaithaka.com), Sharon Mundia (thisisess.com), Jackson Biko (bikozulu.co.ke), Sam Wakoba (techmoran.com), Dennis Machio (michezoafrica.com) and Limo Taboi (bankelele.co.ke).
