Over 3,500 Mombasa County residents have benefited from a medical camp hosted by the M-PESA Foundation in partnership with Zuri Health and Lion Sight First Eye Hospital at Consolata Catholic Primary School in Likoni.
The Foundation also handed 30 Mama Packs, which contain a baby shawl, diapers, sanitary towels, a wash basin and soap to mothers at Mrima Maternity Hospital in Likoni as part of its efforts to enhance maternal and child health.
Since its launch in May last year, over 30,000 people have benefitted from the free medical services in Lamu, Nairobi, Machakos, Trans Nzoia, Narok, Meru, Kakamega, Kisumu, Nyandarua and Mombasa counties.
An additional 90 people have benefitted from free one-year NHIF membership, where they can access further medical services.
“As we hold our 10th medical camp here in Mombasa, we continue to realize our purpose of transforming lives and take healthcare services closer to the people, with a focus on non-communicable diseases, reproductive health advice and general health consultations,” said Karen Basiye, Director Sustainable Business and Social Impact, Safaricom PLC.
Some of the services offered at the camp included eye care consultations, breast and cervical cancer screening, Fistula screening, general doctor consultations, diabetes screening, hypertension monitoring and child health consultations.
Zuri Health provides technology solutions by offering patients who attend the medical camps free follow-up consultations with doctors via SMS and WhatsApp for up to six months.
