The Connected Africa summit, is set to take place from April 21st to 25th at Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi.
The theme for this year is centered on “Shaping the Future of a Connected Africa: Unlocking Growth Beyond Connectivity,” In order to unlock the future for the continent.
The summit brings together top leaders, investors, and businesses to highlight the importance of leveraging digital economy opportunities for economic growth.
Safaricom, on its part, has pledged to sponsor the Summit with a contribution of Ksh 20 million.
“Safaricom’s commitment to this summit is a testament to the company’s dedication to creating together, broadening horizons, and moving forward into the future, “commented Peter Ndegwa, Chief Executive Officer, Safaricom on April 18, 2024.
At the Summit Safaricom will also launch the Connect Academy. The Academy will serve as a hub for training and developing skilled fibre optic technicians in Kenya. This initiative is expected to nurture local talent and foster innovation within the country.
“We believe that by coming together at events like the Connected Africa Summit, we can create meaningful dialogue and collaborations that will drive Africa’s digital transformation,” added Ndegwa.
Safaricom will also provide supplementary services including Wi-Fi connectivity, network optimization, experiential technology showcases, merchandise sales and customer engagement opportunities during the summit.
