The Junior Golf Foundation announced the outstanding performance of the Kenyan boys and girls’ teams at the recent All Africa Junior Golf Championship held in South Africa from April 23rd to 26th, 2024.
Despite stiff competition, the Kenyan teams showcased remarkable skill and determination, securing impressive placements in the tournament. The girls’ team clinched the 2nd position, while the boys’ team secured a commendable 4th place finish. From the announcement made on May 17th,2024 the teams achievements is as a result of their hard work, dedication, and passion for the sport.
Accompanied by their coaches, John Liefland and John Wangai, the teams represented Kenya with pride and sportsmanship throughout the championship. Their performance reflects the support and guidance the Junior Golf Foundation provided. The team of Boys included;
- Krish Beiju Shah- 17 years – Muthaiga Golf Club
- Andrew Wahome- 18 years – Nyali Golf and Country Club
- Junaid Manji- 16 years – Muthaiga Golf Club
- Kevin Anyien- 18 years – Golf Park, Golf Club
While the Girls Team had;
- Chanelle Wangari – 17 years – Vetlab Sports Club
- Bianca Ngecu – 15 years – Muthaiga Golf Club and
- Audrey Gachora – 14 years – Muthaiga Golf Clu
Preparation played a crucial role in the teams’ success, as they underwent an intensive two-month training camp to hone their skills and enhance their competitive edge.
“We are incredibly proud of the girls and boys teams for their outstanding performance at the All Africa Junior Golf Championship,” said Junior Golf Foundation President Regina Gachora who had also accompanied the team “Their dedication, perseverance, and sportsmanship have truly exemplified the values of the Junior Golf Foundation. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the teams, coaches, and everyone involved in this remarkable achievement.”
