Kajiado sanitary towels queen Jackie Wa Pads got the treat of a lifetime when she was gifted with a day out at the Nairobi National park. This was in recognition of her work with helping adolescent girls and young women access free sanitary towels and access post gender based violence support.
The treat has also given her a break from her 3 year long search for her 2 children that the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) have been unable to trace.
“This was a much needed break given that at times I get breakdowns from dealing with all the challenges that come with community service; additionally the stress that comes with finding my missing children.”
The day out by Royal Star Expeditions and Wanderlust Diaries was dubbed #Trailblazeher. The ladies had a day out in the Nairobi National Park; sumptuous lunch, debrief and dance at Archers Post.
” At times it is good to give back and appreciate people who are actually doing something positive in the society just like Jackie Wa Pads and many other change makers do,” said Winfred Mbesa Founder and president Royal Star Expeditions .
Dr. Elizabeth Wala, ” Women have to stand up for each other and support each other. We are our own cheerleaders and the Trailblazher series will continue; it is a safe space for US.”
Jackline Saleiyan has so far reached 39,200 with free sanitary towels; runs a free daycare for 40 adolescent mothers babies who are GBV victors/survivors to enable them access school.
Over the years she has garnered different honors including the Trailblazer Award during the International Women Day by H.E William Ruto ; Kajiado County Gender Equality and women empowerment award and Top 50 Africa Women In Development (AWID) finalist.
