Jackline Saleiyan has been selected as a recipient of the 2024 African Women in Development (AWID) Awards.
African Women in Development (AWID) Award feature is a campaign organized by the Donors for Africa Foundation to commemorate “International Women’s Day”.
Every year, AWID seeks outstanding African women activists and change-makers to create tangible impacts toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This year AWID received over 1700 nominations from 34 countries across Africa. After a rigorous vetting process by a panel of judges, Saleiyan was part of the 50 women who emerged as winners.
Saleiyan philanthropic work has revolved around social inclusion and advocacy for women’s and girls’ rights in her community.
She is the founder of A Pack a Month, a Community Based Organization (CBO), supporting teen mothers and young women in Kajiado County, Kenya.
The organization mentors and avails pads monthly to Girls and Young Women to eradicate transactional sex.
She also runs a Daycare and Adolescent Mothers Empowerment Center, offering free daycare services to teen mothers to enable them to continue their education.
Saleiyan has already received several other awards including the Trailblazer Award from His Excellency President William Ruto on March 8th,2024.
The Priceless Project, a US-based community organization in 2023, also recognized her.
The recipient of the 2024 AWID Awards received certification and also availed on all of AWIDS’s active database across all their social platforms in April 2024.
Donors for Africa Foundation is a non-profit based in Nigeria, working to reduce the number of African development organizations and non-profits that fail due to a lack of funding and technical expertise.
The organization provides training services, human capital development, and accelerator programs to change-makers and social innovators to ensure their sustainability.
