Nominations for The East Africa Philanthropy 2024 Awards (EAPA) are now open for registration.
The award covers the East African countries namely Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Ethiopia.
Anually hosted by the East Africa Philanthropy Network (EAPN) ,EAPA celebrates individuals and organizations whose philanthropic efforts have profoundly impacted society.
These awards recognize various acts of philanthropy, with an aim to inspire others by showcasing the transformative power of giving.
The Award Categories include:
1. Digital and Innovative Philanthropy Award
This award aims to recognizes organizations or individuals who have effectively leveraged digital platforms and innovative methods to advance philanthropic initiatives.
It celebrates creativity and the use of technology in driving awareness, raising funds and mobilizing communities for social causes.
2. Sustainable Impact Investment Award
It recognizes entities making efforts to not only make Profit but also dedicated to environmental sustainability and climate action.
3. Community Empowerment Award
This award acknowledges Community Foundations that have adopted innovative approaches such as impact investing to empower local communities. It focuses on efforts that enhance the self-sufficiency and resilience of communities.
4. Youth Leadership in Philanthropy Award
The Award honors young the contributions of youth who are driving significant philanthropic efforts.
5. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Excellence Award
This award honors businesses with exemplary CSR programs that have made a positive impact on society. It recognizes companies that integrate social responsibility into their core business strategies and practices.
6. Advocate for Giving Practice (Media Award)
This award recognizes outstanding reporting and coverage of philanthropic actions in the region. It celebrates champions and promoters of giving practices through the media
7. Philanthropy Lifetime Award
This award honors visionary leaders and philanthropists who have made extraordinary contributions to the community and the development of philanthropy in East Africa.
8. Jury’s Choice Award
This is a special recognition determined by the jury for exceptional philanthropic contributions from all the received nominations.
Some of the recipients of the award since its establishment in 2012 include Dr. Manu Chandaria, Safaricom Foundation, and Kennedy Odede from SHOFCO, among other individuals and organizations.
The deadline for nomination entries is set for September 2024, with the grand Award ceremony planned for November.
