
ADD International has announced that applications are now open for the Global Disability Leadership Academy pilot program, which will be held in Nairobi, Kenya, from April 6 to 12, 2025.
The pioneering leadership development initiative aims to empower disability justice activists, particularly women and young people with disabilities, to enhance their leadership skills in the fight for disability justice.
The Academy’s program would include intensive training that offers leadership development, mentorship, and the opportunity for activists to develop their project concepts focused on advancing disability justice in their communities.
Participants will also get a chance to engage with expert mentors and coaches, receive training in transformational leadership, and gain exposure to both theoretical and practical aspects of disability justice.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the Global Disability Leadership Academy, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Age: Applicants must be at least 18 years old by April 7, 2025.
- Lived Experience of Disability:Â Applicants should have a lived experience of disability.
- Experience in Disability Justice Advocacy: A minimum of one year’s experience advocating for disability justice, particularly in the areas of women’s rights or other marginalized issues within disability movements, in either Africa or Asia.
- Reference Letter: A reference letter from a professional or personal contact who can attest to the applicant’s activism work.
- English Proficiency:Â Applicants must be proficient in English, as the program will be conducted in English.
- Project Concept:Â Applicants must submit a project idea or concept focused on a disability justice issue they aim to address during their fellowship, along with the expected impact.
- Travel Availability: Applicants must be available to travel to Nairobi, Kenya, from April 6–12, 2025, and possess the necessary passport or travel documentation.

ADD International will cover all costs associated with the participation of selected candidates, including travel, accommodation, and other reasonable expenses
