The 9th East Africa Philanthropy Conference, scheduled from June 11th – 13th, 2025, at the Serena Hotel in Kigali, Rwanda, is inviting seession abstracts from thought leaders, practitioners, policymakers, researchers, and innovators within the philanthropic ecosystem.
Organized by the East African Philanthropy Network, the conference will provide a platform for engaging discussions on philanthropy’s evolving role in the region.
With the theme “Agile Philanthropy: Adapting to Economic, Social, and Political Shifts,” the event will explore how philanthropy can navigate changing dynamics in economic sustainability, regulatory frameworks, and social equity.
Sessions will address pressing challenges in the sector and aim to provide actionable solutions.

Proposals are sought for sessions that would offer innovative strategies and fresh perspectives on how philanthropy can adapt and drive positive change.
To be considered, session proposals must meet the following criteria:
- Relevance to the Theme: Proposals should address significant issues in the philanthropy sector.
- Innovative & Action-Oriented: Proposals should focus on real-world case studies, best practices, and solutions for driving change.
- Multi-Stakeholder Engagement: Sessions should encourage participation from philanthropic organizations, government policymakers, private sector leaders, and social entrepreneurs.
- Interactive Format: Proposals should engage the audience actively, with opportunities for participation and live demonstrations.
- Clear Outcomes: Abstracts should outline key learning objectives, takeaways, and expected contributions to the discussions.
- Diversity & Inclusivity: Proposals should prioritize underrepresented voices, particularly from local and grassroots communities.
Sessions can take various formats, including plenary panels, workshops, roundtables, case studies, and fireside chats, all designed to foster interactive, solution-driven discussions.
The 9th East Africa Philanthropy Conference is expected to be a landmark event in the region, promoting collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and innovation in the philanthropic sector.
