The Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) Foundation has commissioned KES 11 million in infrastructural projects in Homabay and Nandi Counties, aimed at easing congestion and enhancing the studying environment in learning institutions, particularly for students with disabilities.
In a press release on February 18th, 2024, KPC said the commissioned projects include a 100-capacity dormitory at Siburi Mixed Secondary School, two classrooms at Lambwe Special School, both in Homa Bay County, and the renovation of a home unit at Tachasis Integrated Special School in Nandi County.
Speaking at Siburi Secondary School, KPC Managing Director, Mr. Joe Sang, noted that the KPC Foundation is committed to bridging educational gaps in marginalized areas as part of KPC’s CSI initiatives.
“KPC Foundation’s education initiatives align with the national government’s goals to increase
secondary school enrolment and school completion rates across Kenya. We believe that education is a powerful tool for change and these projects reflect our commitment to ensuring that every child, regardless of their physical abilities or background has access to a conducive learning environment,” said
Mr. Sang.
Cabinet Secretary for Energy, Opiyo Wandayi lauded the KPC Foundation’s initiatives stating, “The government is committed to partnerships that enhance access to quality education. We commend KPC Foundation for prioritizing the welfare of students and ensuring they learn in a dignified environment and call upon other entities in the corporate space to support our learners wherever
possible.”
Interior PS. Dr. Raymond Omollo echoed similar sentiments adding, “This investment by KPC Foundation is not just about infrastructure but about transforming lives. A well-equipped and safe school environment is key to academic success and personal development.”
The two projects in Homabay County bring the total number of CSI projects by KPC Foundation in the Nyanza region to five. The Foundation has so far constructed a dormitory and laboratory at Simbi Secondary School at KES 8 million, an administration and ablution block in Kowuor Primary School at KES 5 million, and a multi-purpose hall in St. Mary’s Secondary School at KES 5 million.
