Launch of ORUN Studios in Abidjan on June 26, 2025 on the sidelines of SICA
On the occasion of the International Exhibition of Audiovisual Content (SICA), ORUN Studios (www.ORUN.Africa) officially launched at the Sofitel Hôtel Ivoire in Abidjan.
Conceived as a Pan-African studio for visual storytelling, animation, and immersive creation, ORUN Studios offers a bold new platform for Africa to shape and share its narratives through its forms, rhythms, and symbols.
More than an inauguration, the launch marked the unveiling of a creative vision built around ownership and self-expression.
ORUN introduces a contemporary narrative space that is deeply rooted, daring, and designed to connect generations.
“ORUN Studios aims to heal forgetting through image — it speaks to youth in their language, so they can remember, take root, and rise,” said Habyba Thiero, Founder of ORUN Studios.
For the first time, audiences were invited to explore the ORUN universe — a creative realm structured around seven symbolic kingdoms, each reflecting a key African priority: health, education, culture, ecology, craftsmanship, circular economy, and sustainable infrastructure.
Through these seven worlds, ORUN Studios lays the foundation for a contemporary African mythology.
One that invites younger generations to reconnect with living memory and build the future through media they understand — including 3D animation, comics, and immersive design.
A Multisensory and Proudly Pan-African Experience
At the heart of the event was a striking 6-meter geodesic dome installation — a full audiovisual immersion into the worlds of ORUN.
Blending video mapping, spatial sound, dance, and visual storytelling, the dome offered a 360° creative encounter.
The program also featured:
- Thematic discussions on African imagination
- A creative challenge across the continent based on the ORUN universe
- B2B sessions connecting creators, studios, institutions, and investors
- Contributions from leading artists, thinkers, and influencers from across Africa and the diaspora
- Dedicated immersive sessions for media and guests
A Platform for Stories and Cultural Transmission
“ORUN Studios is a house of stories for an Africa that no longer waits to be narrated but speaks out with confidence. Our ambition is to build a bridge between African roots and future technologies,” added Habyba.
Developed by the Africa Currency Network (ACN)
ORUN is an initiative of the Africa Currency Network (ACN), a Pan-African group of experts committed to the continent’s structural transformation. ACN is also a member of the Kigali International Financial Centre (KIFC).
Guided by the belief that Africa must design and drive its own systems, stories, and talent development, ACN creates long-term solutions in areas such as finance, digital access, culture, and creative education.
Its work is grounded in three interconnected priorities:
- Financial inclusion
- Intergenerational impact
- Africa’s global presence
Through ORUN Studios, ACN brings together cultural expression and strategic development, cultivating a space where African creativity and innovation thrive.
