During the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, the PVBLIC Foundation and the UN Joint Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Fund launched a new partnership aimed at mobilizing greater financing and partnerships for sustainable development.
Formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at the United Nations headquarters in New York, the collaboration seeks to unlock innovative funding models, strengthen systems, and scale solutions that accelerate progress toward the SDGs.
The signing took place during Partnerships Day at the UN SDG Media Zone.
“Partnering with the UN Joint SDG Fund is about more than collaboration; it is about building the architecture of financing and execution the world urgently needs,” said Sergio Fernández de Córdova, Executive Chairman of PVBLIC Foundation.
“Through PVBLIC’s REIN Hubs program and our Family Offices for Sustainable Development network, we can supercharge the Fund’s work, channeling new capital and capacity to programs and systems that will endure for generations.”
Managed by the UNDP Multi-Partner Trust Fund Office, the UN Joint SDG Fund is a UN-wide mechanism designed to drive transformative policy and financing solutions.
It stimulates strategic investments that help countries accelerate their progress toward achieving the 2030 Agenda.
Ahead of the signing, Lisa Kurbiel joined Robert Skinner, Deputy Director and Chief of Partnerships and Global Engagement at the United Nations, for a fireside conversation on the role of partnerships in financing local and community-driven SDG initiatives.
“This partnership demonstrates the power of aligning networks and expertise,” said Lisa Kurbiel.
“With PVBLIC Foundation, we are building the financing and partnerships architecture that can accelerate progress on the SDGs for generations to come.”
The collaboration comes at a pivotal moment as the global community grapples with the urgent need to close the multitrillion-dollar SDG financing gap.
As development funding tightens and climate and humanitarian pressures rise, institutions are increasingly turning to innovative, blended, and catalytic financing to sustain momentum toward the 2030 targets.
Through this new alliance, the partners aim to catalyze nature-based, data-driven, and space-enabled solutions for sustainable development, linking philanthropic and private capital to public-sector innovation.
Among PVBLIC’s flagship initiatives is the Resilience, Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Nature (REIN) Hubs program, which builds cross-sector infrastructure in multiple countries to advance locally relevant SDG solutions.
The Foundation also leads the Family Offices for Sustainable Development (FOSD) network, connecting private capital and family offices with high-impact opportunities that align with the SDGs.
“This partnership symbolizes the power of collaboration through our shared values for social good,” said Stephen Keppel, President of PVBLIC Foundation.
“Working in tandem with the SDG Fund, we can better attract and direct resources through FOSD and PVBLIC’s wider platforms, ensuring that capital flows to programs creating lasting change and strengthening resiliency across vulnerable communities.”
Looking ahead, the partnership will focus on advancing innovative financing, supporting institutional platforms, and capacity-building across the global development ecosystem.
Both organizations emphasized that building new pathways for systemic transformation through partnerships is essential to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and to ensuring that philanthropy remains a driving force for equitable, inclusive, and sustainable change.
