According to the GivingTuesday Data Commons, 38.1 million people participated in GivingTuesday 2025, and $4.0 billion was donated in the United States alone.
Since its launch in 2012, the movement has now raised a cumulative total of $22.5 billion.
These figures reflect a growing, enduring commitment to community care and the causes people care about most.
“Year after year, millions of people across the globe make GivingTuesday a priority, not because it’s a trend or because it’s new, but because generosity is woven into how we care for each other,” said GivingTuesday CEO Asha Curran.
“The fact that people show up so strongly not just on GivingTuesday, but every single day, in the spirit of generosity, speaks volumes about our ability to unite around a shared vision for a better world, especially during a year as challenging as this one—one full of upheaval, uncertainty, and loss in communities and across sectors. That’s the true power of generosity. It fosters sustained community connection and engagement that ultimately builds stronger, more resilient communities.”
Participation and Giving Reach New Heights
The 2025 edition of GivingTuesday saw growth across nearly every category of giving. In the U.S., total dollars donated rose 13% compared to 2024, while overall participation increased by 6%, reaching 38.1 million. Among participants, 19.1 million contributed financially, up 3% from the previous year, while 13.5 million donated goods such as clothing, food, and other essentials—a 4% increase.
Volunteerism also surged, with 11.1 million people giving their time, a 20% rise over 2024. Additionally, 20.9 million participants spoke out about causes they care about, marking a 26% increase from last year.
“Each act of generosity is a building block for community solutions that make a difference,” Curran continued. “The continued growth in participation signals that more and more people are recognizing the power of collective action to create lasting change.”
The growth of GivingTuesday reflects more than just dollars and numbers; it demonstrates a cultural shift toward ongoing community engagement.
Curran emphasized that generosity is not limited to a single day but builds networks of support and civic participation that have a lasting impact.
A Global Movement Continues to Expand
Since its inception in 2012, GivingTuesday has grown from a single day of giving to a year-round global movement, inspiring people in more than 110 countries.
In 2025, new national movements launched in Guatemala, Gambia, Mozambique, and Qatar, expanding the reach of the campaign.
GivingTuesday also strengthened its support for grassroots leaders through its five regional Hubs: Europe, Africa, India, Latin America & the Caribbean, and U.S. & Canada.
These Hubs provide training, resources, and guidance to local organizations, helping them organize campaigns, mobilize communities, and turn small acts of giving into meaningful local impact.
The GivingTuesday Data Commons continued to provide real-time insights into how people give, volunteer, and advocate for causes, helping organizations better understand participation patterns and plan initiatives that maximize community benefit.
Several new initiatives launched in 2025 focused on leveraging generosity and civic action to deepen community connection and strengthen engagement.
A Shared Vision of Community and Care
“Year after year, we see that generosity is more than money,” Curran said. “It’s about time, advocacy, and connection. People are showing up for their neighbors, communities, and causes, proving that collective action can bring about real change.”
GivingTuesday 2025 illustrates that generosity is resilient, even in difficult times.
From volunteering and donating goods to speaking up for causes and supporting historic pledges, millions of people demonstrated that small, individual actions, when combined, create meaningful social impact.
As the movement continues to grow globally, it also highlights the power of ordinary people to shape a better world through consistent acts of giving.
Whether at the local or international level, the spirit of GivingTuesday 2025 proves that generosity remains a force for building stronger, more connected, and more resilient communities.
