Climate Care Africa has opened applications for the Kenya Youth Environmental Stewards Awards 2025, a programme designed to recognize and support young leaders driving environmental conservation across the country.
The initiative targets Kenyans aged 18 to 35 and seeks to highlight innovative projects that address pressing environmental challenges.
The awards aim to identify youth-led initiatives in areas such as waste management, renewable energy, reforestation, and sustainable agriculture.
Winners will receive seed funding starting from KES 50,000, mentorship, and guidance from Climate Care Africa and its partners.
Finalists will also gain access to a network of investors, innovators, and industry stakeholders, providing opportunities to scale their projects and increase their impact.
Mentorship is a core component of the programme. Many youth-led organizations face challenges in long-term planning, project monitoring, and forming institutional partnerships.
By pairing finalists with experts, the awards aim to strengthen organizational capacity and support sustainable growth.
Who Can Apply
The awards are open to:
- Independent change-makers aged 18–35
- Community-Based Organizations (CBOs)
- Non-profit organizations
Eligible applicants should be implementing initiatives that promote environmental sustainability, social inclusion, and equity.
Projects that demonstrate tangible impact and innovative approaches to local environmental challenges are encouraged to apply.
Application Details
The submission window remains open until December 31, 2025.
Applicants can submit their initiatives through the online portal, providing an opportunity to gain funding, mentorship, and visibility at the national and regional levels.
The awards will culminate in a gala event on January 30, 2026, at 6:00 PM, where finalists will present their projects to partners, investors, and industry experts.
Winners will be celebrated for their leadership, innovation, and measurable impact in environmental stewardship.
Empowering the Next Generation of Environmental Leaders
Across Africa, youth-led initiatives are increasingly filling gaps left by slow-moving government and international funding.
From urban recycling projects to coastal mangrove restoration, young innovators are demonstrating practical, locally informed solutions that create measurable environmental benefits.
The Kenya Youth Environmental Stewards Awards highlight the importance of youth participation in environmental conservation.
By providing financial support, mentorship, and networking opportunities, the programme aims to strengthen the capacity of young leaders, encourage innovation, and amplify the impact of community-driven environmental projects.
The awards underscore the growing recognition of youth as essential contributors to climate resilience and sustainable development in Kenya and across the continent.
