The international solidarity NGO LIFE has launched the 2026 edition of its flagship campaign, “€1 = 1 meal,” aiming to provide 10 million meals in just 30 days to people facing food insecurity.
While the initiative spans multiple continents, Africa remains a key focus, reflecting the urgent need for support across the continent.
A Simple Initiative with Real Impact
The campaign operates on a straightforward principle: every euro collected becomes one full meal (breakfast + lunch) for those in need.
LIFE reports that in the previous year, the campaign delivered more than 4.6 million meals, demonstrating how small contributions can have an immediate and tangible effect.
As LIFE notes, “every euro counts. Each donor is an essential link in transforming hope into concrete aid.”
This simple approach enables individuals and communities to directly support families struggling with hunger.
Global Hunger and Africa’s Challenge
According to the 2025 State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World (SOFI) report, global hunger slightly declined to 673 million people (8.2% of the population) in 2024.
While some regions, including Asia and South America, saw improvements, hunger is rising in Africa and Western Asia.
Persistent high food price inflation continues to hinder access to nutritious diets, leaving millions of people vulnerable.
African Communities Among Key Beneficiaries
In 2026, LIFE is implementing the campaign in more than 10 countries across Africa, Asia, and Europe. African countries include Comoros, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Niger, Senegal, and Somalia, where local partners work to ensure meals reach families living in poverty, displaced populations, and communities affected by crises.
The campaign also operates in Bangladesh, France, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, and Sudan, reflecting a broader global effort to address food insecurity.
Across all regions, LIFE emphasizes the importance of local partners in delivering aid efficiently and effectively.
Collective Effort Makes the Difference
The campaign relies on solidarity and participation from a broad network of donors.
At the core of the initiative is the Lifechangers community, which turns individual donations into concrete impact.
LIFE calls on everyone to “join the movement and become a Lifechanger to take up this challenge,” reinforcing that collective action can save lives.
A Legacy of Humanitarian Work
Since 2009, LIFE has worked in over 25 countries, focusing on food security, health, education, access to water, and environmental support.
More than 15 million people have benefited from its programs, with African communities representing a significant portion of those assisted.
As hunger continues to rise in Africa and other regions, LIFE’s “€1 = 1 meal” campaign offers a practical way for donors to contribute to immediate relief and long-term hope.
By participating, donors can support African families while also helping communities across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
