The Bezos Earth Fund has launched a three-year partnership with The Earthshot Prize to fund 48 climate and nature solutions worldwide, focusing on projects nominated for the Prize that were not selected as Finalists.
The initiative aims to support innovations that accelerate climate mitigation, restore ecosystems, and benefit communities globally.
The Bezos Earth Fund will provide $4.8 million over three years, funding 16 solutions each year.
The first 16 organisations will receive $100,000 each to expand operations, increase reach, and scale the impact of their work.
The projects include technological innovations, community-led conservation, sustainable food systems, renewable energy, and ocean and forest protection.
Dr. Kelly Levin, Chief of Science, Data, and Systems Change at the Bezos Earth Fund, said that scaling solutions is critical.
“Innovation exists from labs to local communities, but many ideas remain small when urgent action is needed. Through this partnership, we can help these breakthroughs grow into solutions capable of reshaping global climate and nature outcomes.”
The Earthshot Prize, established in 2020, is recognised for connecting innovators, funders, businesses, and communities to high-impact environmental projects.
Its mission is to mobilise a decade of action for the planet, transforming innovative ideas into scalable solutions addressing climate and biodiversity crises.
By targeting non-finalist nominees, the partnership addresses a key challenge for environmental innovators: limited funding and resources to scale effective projects.
Many high-potential initiatives face constraints that prevent broader implementation. The collaboration ensures that these solutions can expand, reach new communities, and deliver measurable environmental and social outcomes.
The initiative supports projects across multiple sectors, including renewable energy, sustainable food systems, reforestation, biodiversity conservation, and climate-resilient infrastructure.
Many projects are designed to empower local communities, generate livelihoods, and improve access to natural resources, integrating environmental and social benefits.
Jason Knauf LVO, CEO of The Earthshot Prize, noted that supporting non-finalist nominees expands the reach of the Prize’s network.
“Our wider pool of nominations represents a global pipeline of innovators. Collaborating with the Bezos Earth Fund allows us to support additional high-potential solutions and deliver impact beyond our annual Prize cycle,” he said.
Through strategic funding and access to The Earthshot Prize’s global network, the partnership aims to create a model for scaling climate and nature solutions, ensuring that high-potential innovations move beyond pilot stages.
The first grantees are Air Protein, Inc; Climatenza Solar, Instituto Floresta Viva; Forum Konservasi Leuser; Fundación Rewilding Argentina; Hyperion Robotics; InPlanet; Lasso; Mandai Nature; Mati Carbon; MERMAID; Asociación Conservacionista Misión Tiburón; Simple Planet; Snowchange Cooperative; tHEMEat Company; and UP Catalyst.
By backing 48 projects over three years, the initiative strengthens innovators’ capacity to deliver solutions that can be adopted at regional and global scales.
Experts from both organisations highlighted the urgency of this work. Dr. Levin said that rapid scaling is essential to ensure solutions achieve meaningful impact during a critical decade for climate action.
Knauf noted that supporting additional nominees enables a broader range of innovators to contribute measurable progress on climate and nature challenges.
With climate pressures and biodiversity loss intensifying, this collaboration provides critical resources and guidance for innovators worldwide.
By expanding support beyond traditional Prize Finalists, the partnership strengthens pathways for impactful solutions, helping them achieve tangible results for people and the planet.
