Janet Gathuki joined Africa Solutions Media Hub in January 2020 for the Solutions Training Programme. The course covering News Writing, Media Ethics, Mobile Journalism, Interviewing Skills and Solutions Journalism gave Gathuki a chance to practice journalism practically by going to the field to do stories and take photos using mobile phones and professional cameras.
Gathuki is currently a student at Multimedia University of Kenya pursuing a Diploma course in Mass Communication. Gathuki has been developing multimedia content for Africa Solutions Media Hub, with a keen focus on Gender and Children stories.
“I find myself enjoying the course since I am very familiar with most of the topics taught in some of the units through the skills I learnt in Africa Solutions Media Hub. The media organisation has also helped me to improve on my courage and other skills like interviewing skills, photography, news writing and also mobile journalism.”
