
Equal Measures 2030 (EM2030) is calling for applications for the 2025 Storytelling with Data Fellowship, a six-month initiative designed to equip feminist advocates in Latin America & the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia with the skills to transform gender data into compelling narratives.
The program provides mentorship, training, and collaboration opportunities to help fellows create impactful storytelling pieces such as blogs, videos, podcasts, and infographics.
Fellowship Objectives..
The Storytelling with Data Fellowship aims to:
Foster a lasting network of feminist storytellers who will continue using data-driven narratives for advocacy beyond the fellowship.
- Empower feminist advocates with skills to use data in storytelling, shaping narratives that influence policy, mobilize communities, and strengthen aadvocacy.
- Enhance the dissemination of the SDG Gender Index by equipping feminist storytellers to translate gender data into compelling narratives.
- Increase the visibility and impact of EM2030’s work through engaging storytelling formats that make gender data more relatable and actionable.
- Broaden the reach and influence of Index findings by ensuring that journalists, policymakers, funders, and grassroots advocates can easily access and apply the data.
- Produce high-quality, diverse storytelling outputs (blogs, videos, podcasts, infographics, and illustrations) that can be used in reports, media, and advocacy campaigns.
Eligibility & Selection CriteriaÂ
The fellowship is open to feminist advocates, activists, journalists, and media professionals from the specified regions who have an interest in gender advocacy and data-driven storytelling.
While prior experience with gender data is not required, applicants must be able to commit 5-8 hours per week for six months.
Selection will be based on:
- Relevance of the proposed project to gender storytelling and advocacy
- Potential impact in the applicant’s region
- Creativity and ability to work with data
- Commitment to collaboration and learning
Program Structure & Duration
The fellowship is divided into four key phases and will span from April to September 2025.
Onboarding (April 1, 2025): Introduction to the 2024 SDG Gender Index, exploring regional trends and gender challenges.
Mentorship & Training (April – May): Hands-on workshops and one-on-one coaching to develop storytelling and data visualization skills.
Storytelling Production (June – August): Fellows will create their storytelling outputs, from blog posts to multimedia content.
Dissemination & Amplification (September): Final projects will be promoted across EM2030’s platforms, including reports, advocacy events, donor meetings, and social media.
Fellowship Stipend & Benefits
Each fellow will receive a $500 stipend, paid in two installments: 50% after onboarding and 50% upon completion of their final storytelling pieces.
Additionally, fellows will gain visibility on global advocacy platforms, networking opportunities, and the chance to influence policy, funding, and gender equality movements.
