Early-stage social entrepreneurs across Africa working on innovative health or climate solutions are invited to apply for the Changemakers Africa 2025 program.
Now in its latest cycle, the 5-month virtual incubator program is designed to help young ventures validate their business models, improve their impact strategies, and scale community-driven solutions to some of the continent’s most pressing challenges.
Participants will benefit from personalized mentorship provided by professionals from Swiss Re, a global reinsurance company. Selected entrepreneurs will also gain access to a wider network of peers and professionals working in the climate and health sectors.
Who Is Eligible?
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be based in an African country
- Have a business in the early stages (within 2 years or MVP stage), focused on climate resilience or access to health
- Be able to commit 6–8 hours per week over five months
- Be fluent in English, with access to a computer/laptop and reliable internet
Focus Areas
Projects should align with at least one of the following themes:
Climate Solutions
- Nature-based or circular economy approaches
- Renewable energy or waste reduction
- Urban gardening, soil regeneration, or climate-smart agriculture
- Climate-resilient infrastructure or biodiversity conservation
Access to Health
- Telemedicine or hybrid care models
- Prevention and treatment of non-communicable diseases
- Climate-resilient health systems
- Food security, nutrition, or healthy lifestyle promotion
Three finalists will pitch their refined ideas at the program’s closing Demo Day, with prizes awarded as follows:
- 1st Prize: USD 15,000
- 2nd Prize: USD 10,000
- 3rd Prize: USD 5,000
The program is spearheaded by the Swiss Re Foundation, which supports scalable solutions to climate and health risks, particularly in low-income communities. Through funding, mentorship, and partnerships, the foundation aims to strengthen resilience and promote inclusive development.
