His work also includes a six-year tenure at CARE International from 2003 to 2009.
He was first Human Resource and Administration Manager, and later Head of Organizational Development, overseeing programs in Somalia and South Sudan—two regions often impacted by conflict and humanitarian crises.
Between 1996 and 2003, Gatere worked with Save the Children UK in different roles, rising to General Manager – Services.
These early years grounded his expertise in operational leadership, team management, and program delivery.
