Organisations working to improve sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) now have a new window of support.
AmplifyChange has launched its latest round of Opportunity Grants, offering up to £75,000 in funding for advocacy-focused projects.
The 2025 application round targets small to medium-sized civil society and grassroots organisations based in eligible countries across Africa, South Asia, and the Middle East.
This funding is designed to empower organisations that are often closest to the issues but farthest from traditional funding.
AmplifyChange aims to encourage new and innovative approaches that respond to local needs, challenge harmful norms, and push for real policy and social change in SRHR.
What the Grant Supports
Opportunity Grants aim to encourage:
- Local solutions to SRHR challenges
- New and innovative ideas in advocacy
- Efforts to shift policies, norms, and power dynamics
- Community-led initiatives that work towards sustainable change
AmplifyChange does not fund service delivery unless it directly supports advocacy or movement building.
Who Can Apply
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be based in and implement the project in an AmplifyChange-eligible country
- Be a small to medium-sized organisation with an average annual expenditure of less than £200,000 over the last two years
- Focus on advocacy within SRHR—not just awareness or service delivery
Organisations do not need to be registered. If unregistered, AmplifyChange can support registration or help identify a fiscal sponsor (a partner organisation that can manage the funds).
Who Cannot Apply
Applications will not be accepted from:
- International NGOs based in high-income countries
- UN agencies
- Individual activists or researchers
- Organisations seeking only to deliver services without a clear advocacy strategy
- Organisations already receiving funding through an international federation, unless through public grants
What Makes a Strong Proposal
Applicants are expected to:
- Clearly describe the local problem with supporting evidence
- Define realistic goals and a clear path to change
- Identify the key influencers, decision-makers, or institutions they aim to engage
- Show how their work complements existing efforts in the same context
- Consider risks and how to manage them
- Be transparent about any capacity gaps and how they will be addressed using the grant
- Prioritise the safety and confidentiality of affected communities
Important: Terms like awareness-raising, sensitisation, capacity building, and meetings must be clearly explained and justified. Without a link to an advocacy outcome, such proposals will be rejected.
Funding Priorities
Applicants must address one or more of the following SRHR focus areas:
- Ending gender-based violence
- Ensuring access to safe abortion
- Challenging stigma and discrimination
- Improving sexual health among young people
- Increasing access to SRHR services for poor and marginalised communities
Cross-cutting themes that may also be explored include:
- Climate justice
- Pleasure-based sexual health
- Mental health as it connects to SRHR advocacy
What AmplifyChange Wants to See
The fund especially welcomes projects that:
- They are proposed by small, grassroots groups with limited access to traditional donors
- Aim to change social norms and power dynamics
- Test new ideas or adapt promising practices
- Empower marginalised voices
- Contribute to law or policy change, including local by-laws
Budget and Duration
- Maximum available funding: £75,000
- Project duration: 18 to 36 months
- Applicants are encouraged to request only what is necessary and present a realistic, cost-effective plan
