Africa Enterprise Challenge Fund
The Africa Enterprise Challenge Fund (AECF) is seeking to hire a Communications Officer to support the delivery of its internal and external communications strategy.
The Communications Officer will be instrumental in amplifying AECF’s visibility and influence, managing digital platforms, supporting media outreach, and coordinating content creation.
This is a key position for a proactive storyteller with a sharp eye for detail and a deep understanding of impact communication.
The successful candidate will transform complex programs and impact data into compelling narratives that engage local communities, partners, donors, and the broader development sector.
Role Highlights
The Communications Officer will:
- Execute AECF’s communications strategy and ensure consistent messaging across all channels.
- Create diverse content, including blogs, videos, newsletters, reports, and social media posts.
- Manage digital platforms (website, social media) to increase engagement.
- Support internal communications and provide visibility for campaigns, events, and program launches.
- Translate technical impact data into accessible, compelling stories.
- Maintain a visual asset library and coordinate with communications vendors.
- Support media relations and advise on reputational matters.
- Collaborate closely with teams in Strategy & Partnerships, Program Management, and Impact & Learning.
Candidate Profile
Education & Membership:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs, Social Sciences, Knowledge Management, or related fields.
- Membership in a recognized professional body (e.g., Public Relations Society) is preferred.
Experience:
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in communications, public relations, or media.
- Prior work with development organizations, donor-funded programs, or impact-driven entities.
- Demonstrated ability to run multi-channel campaigns and simplify technical content for wide audiences.
- Proven experience managing digital platforms and social media engagement.
Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to deliver high-quality content under tight deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Familiarity with tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CMS platforms, and social analytics.
- Ability to work independently, multitask, and meet deadlines.
