DanChurchAid (DCA) is seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and qualified Kenyan national to join its team as a Climate Advocacy Officer.
This role is based in Nairobi and involves collaboration with both local and international teams to advance climate justice through strategic advocacy efforts.
About the Role
The Climate Advocacy Officer will be responsible for executing global climate advocacy activities, in close coordination with DCA’s Global Climate Team and under the functional leadership of the Global Climate Lead based in Copenhagen.
Day-to-day oversight and logistical support will be provided by the DCA Kenya Country Director.
This role will actively contribute to shaping DCA’s climate advocacy agenda at the global level, ensuring the voices and rights of communities affected by climate change are heard in international climate dialogues.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research, monitoring, and strategic analysis of international climate politics.
- Engage in relevant networks, alliances, and work closely with DCA partners.
- Facilitate dialogue with duty bearers and key stakeholders to influence climate policy outcomes.
- Plan and implement advocacy events and campaigns in coordination with the global climate team.
- Manage practical and logistical tasks related to advocacy activities.
- Contribute to project management, including budgeting, reporting, and monitoring of results.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
A university degree in one of the following or related fields:
- Political Science
- International Relations
- Economics
- Social Sciences
- Geography
- Natural Resource Management
- Communication
- Project Management
Professional Experience
Candidates must:
- Have at least 5 years of professional experience in climate change advocacy.
- Demonstrate experience working in international collaboration or networks.
- Possess strong communication and advocacy skills.
- Have proven experience in planning and executing advocacy initiatives or events.
