Deal Share LIVE – Catalysing Capital for Healthcare
Africa’s healthcare sector is at a pivotal moment.
With persistent challenges such as limited infrastructure, rising non-communicable diseases, and widening affordability gaps, the need for innovative healthcare solutions has never been greater.
At the same time, traditional aid and funding streams are shrinking, while millions of underserved populations continue to face significant barriers to accessing quality care.
Recognizing this pressing need, the African Venture Philanthropy Alliance (AVPA), through its Africa Social Impact Exchange (ASIEx) platform, in partnership with the Bayer Foundation, is spearheading a high-impact initiative: Deal Share LIVE: Catalyzing Capital for Healthcare.
Scheduled for August 14, 2025, this virtual pitch session will spotlight a select group of investment-ready healthcare enterprises that are innovating to deliver quality care and promote health equity across Africa.
The Urgent Need for Catalytic Investment in African Healthcare
Africa’s health financing landscape faces multiple constraints.
Government budgets remain stretched thin, external aid is becoming less predictable, and private capital often steers clear due to perceived risks and longer timelines for returns.
This leaves a critical funding gap for social enterprises, many of which are developing promising innovations tailored specifically to local contexts but lack the capital needed to scale.
The concept of catalytic capital patient, flexible funding that blends grants with investment and aims to unlock further commercial financing, is emerging as a game changer.
Catalytic capital helps de-risk early-stage ventures, accelerates growth, and enables scalable delivery models.
It is the vital “fuel” required to transform innovative healthcare solutions from pilot projects into sustainable systems that reach millions.
