About the Role
The Chief of Staff, Programs will serve as a close strategic and operational partner to GiveDirectly’s Vice President of Programs.
This position is designed to improve effectiveness and cohesion across GiveDirectly’s global programs team, which spans multiple countries and delivers over $100 million annually in cash transfers.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Supporting high-priority strategic initiatives across the program’s portfolio
- Driving cross-functional projects in collaboration with other GiveDirectly teams (e.g., research, tech, external relations)
- Managing internal communication and alignment across country programs and leadership
- Preparing briefing materials and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
- Advising on organizational structure, systems, and performance monitoring
- Acting as a problem-solver and thought partner to identify operational and strategic bottlenecks
The position requires a high level of discretion, analytical rigor, and organizational awareness.
It is structured to offer significant exposure to high-level decision-making and will require travel of up to 25% to various country offices.
Qualifications
GiveDirectly is seeking candidates with a track record of excellence in fast-paced and complex work environments. Required qualifications include:
- 4 to 8 years of professional experience in consulting, strategy, or operations roles
- Experience managing cross-functional projects and collaborating with diverse stakeholders
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability and data literacy
- Comfortable working independently and managing multiple priorities
- Deep commitment to GiveDirectly’s mission and values
Experience in the social sector, global development, or with remote teams is considered an advantage, but not a requirement.
