On 11 September 2025, @AfricanNGOs and Hexa Media Africa will host the next NGO Power Talk, bringing together four leading fundraising experts to help African NGOs sharpen their strategies for resource mobilisation.
Themed “African NGOs & Fundraising: Ask the Experts”, the 90-minute virtual session will offer a practical, interactive space where participants can raise their most pressing fundraising questions and receive direct guidance.
Unlike conventional webinars, the event will not feature lengthy presentations.
Instead, the focus will be on addressing the specific needs of NGOs from donor mapping and engagement to proposal development, digital fundraising, and innovative financing models.
The organisers describe the session as a rare opportunity for African NGOs to access expert support in a candid, question-driven format.
Why Fundraising Matters Now
The conversation comes at a critical time. Across Africa, many NGOs face mounting difficulties in securing sustainable funding.
Traditional donor grants are increasingly hard to access, funder expectations are shifting, and the pressure to diversify revenue streams has never been greater.
Yet new opportunities are also emerging in proximity giving, equity-driven philanthropy, and trust-based models that favour organisations closely connected to their communities.
By placing real-world questions at the centre, the Power Talk aims to help NGOs translate these shifts into practical fundraising strategies.
A Panel of Fundraising Leaders
The event brings together practitioners with deep experience in strengthening the financial health of African NGOs:
- Dr Michael Kiragu, Founder and Principal Consultant at Bell Consultants, is known for his advisory work on resource mobilisation and organisational development.
- Lucy Njue, Founder and Executive Director of Realtime Insights, has helped organisations align fundraising with data-driven strategies.
- Allwell Akhigbe, Co-Founder and CEO of Travaille Ensemble, with expertise in collaborative fundraising and regional donor engagement.
- Chantel Cooper, CEO of the Children’s Hospital Trust, is recognised for her leadership in major philanthropic campaigns.
Who Should Attend
The Power Talk is open to NGOs and sector partners across the continent. It will be particularly valuable for:
- Leaders of NGOs and community-based organisations seeking new fundraising strategies.
- Fundraising, communications, and programme staff responsible for donor engagement.
- Emerging NGOs and start-ups establishing sustainable income streams.
- Consultants, philanthropy networks, and donor representatives interested in NGO realities.
Because the event is virtual, any organisation, regardless of size, location, or thematic focus, can participate.
Why This Event Stands Out
Access to expert fundraising advice is often limited to small professional networks or costly consultancy services.
By contrast, the NGO Power Talk format makes such expertise accessible to all NGOs in Africa at no cost.
It also creates a peer-learning environment where organisations can learn not just from the panellists but from one another’s questions and experiences.
The organisers emphasise inclusivity: “No question is too big or too small,” underscoring the commitment to meet NGOs wherever they are on their fundraising journey.
Registration is accessible here: https://lu.ma/ufnpixui or https://tinyurl.com/ yc765p94
Participation is free, but advance registration is required.
For African NGOs seeking to navigate today’s funding challenges and strengthen their sustainability, this Power Talk offers a timely and practical opportunity to learn directly from some of the best minds in the field.
