African NGO leaders and communication professionals will convene virtually on Thursday, 30 October 2025, for the next edition of the NGO Power Talk series titled “Communications for Fundraising Success: How African NGOs Can Build Trust, Inspire Giving & Raise More Money.”
The 90-minute webinar, organised by @AfricanNGOs in partnership with Hexa Media Africa, will run on Microsoft Teams.
It will be facilitated by David Barnard of @AfricanNGOs and Emmanuella Imo, founder of Hexa Media Africa.
The session aims to help African nonprofit leaders and fundraisers understand how strategic and authentic communication can strengthen donor confidence, attract support, and improve visibility.
Participants will explore how trust-building and storytelling can translate into tangible fundraising results across digital and offline platforms.
Key discussion points will include:
- Why trust is the cornerstone of fundraising success.
- Common communication mistakes that hinder donor support.
- Donor-centred messages that inspire giving.
- Digital communication strategies that enhance engagement.
- How to apply these principles to upcoming campaigns, such as Giving Tuesday.

Strengthening Fundraising Through Strategic Communication
The NGO Power Talk series continues to respond to one of the most pressing challenges facing African nonprofits: how to remain sustainable in an increasingly competitive funding environment.
Donors are becoming more selective, with greater emphasis on transparency, measurable impact, and credible leadership.
For many organisations, these shifts have made communication a strategic tool rather than a secondary function.
Clear, consistent, and data-driven messaging not only helps build trust but also positions NGOs as reliable partners capable of delivering results.
The upcoming session will explore how effective communication can help NGOs connect their mission to donor priorities, highlight real impact, and sustain long-term partnerships.
The discussion is particularly relevant for NGOs preparing for end-of-year fundraising efforts and campaigns that rely heavily on public engagement and digital visibility.
About the NGO Power Talk Series
The NGO Power Talk series is a joint initiative of @AfricanNGOs and Hexa Media Africa, designed to strengthen the capacity of African nonprofit leaders through practical discussions on leadership, funding, and impact.
Each edition features experts and practitioners sharing insights on key issues affecting the civil society sector across the continent.
Since its inception, the series has covered topics such as digital transformation, donor engagement, governance, and sustainability.
It serves as a knowledge-sharing platform that encourages collaboration, innovation, and professional development within Africa’s civil society ecosystem.
By focusing on communication as a driver of resource mobilisation, the October session continues this mission of equipping NGOs with the knowledge and tools to navigate shifting donor expectations and evolving communication trends.
Responding to a Changing Donor Landscape
Funding for African NGOs has become increasingly dynamic. Traditional grants remain vital but are complemented by new forms of philanthropy, crowdfunding, and private sector partnerships.
In this environment, communication determines how effectively organisations present their value proposition to different audiences.
African NGOs are also adapting to digital platforms that allow for broader storytelling and real-time donor engagement.
Social media, newsletters, and websites now serve as essential tools for transparency and outreach, while consistent branding and message alignment help strengthen institutional credibility.
By integrating these approaches, the upcoming Power Talk aims to demonstrate how communication can move beyond visibility to become a measurable component of fundraising success.
