The Kenya Power Foundation has pledged its continued support for STEM education in Kenyan schools with a KSh 1.5 million sponsorship for the 2026 Kenya Science and Engineering Fair.
The announcement was made at the Kenya Science and Engineering Fair Partners Forum, hosted by Chairperson Mrs. Margaret Njaggah.
The annual fair, running from March 29 to April 5 in Garissa, will bring together over 2,000 high school students from across the country.
This year’s fair, themed “Sustainable Development for National Development,” will give students a platform to showcase ideas and projects that address Kenya’s social, economic, and environmental challenges.
Participants will present innovations that could help transform communities, create jobs, and improve national development.
For the Kenya Power Foundation, supporting the fair is part of a wider strategy to encourage young people to pursue careers in STEM.
“STEM is the heartbeat of a resilient energy industry and a vibrant nation,” the Foundation said, underlining its commitment to nurturing creativity and practical solutions among students.
The Kenya Science and Engineering Fair has grown into a key platform for talent development. It brings together teachers, policymakers, and private sector partners to engage with students, providing mentorship, exposure, and recognition.
Many participants see the fair as a stepping stone for future opportunities in innovation, research, and problem-solving.
By sponsoring the event, the Foundation also reinforces its mission to empower communities and support education across all 47 counties.
Its involvement highlights the importance of investing in the next generation, ensuring that young people have the skills and confidence to drive progress in their schools, communities, and the wider country.
As Kenya continues to focus on homegrown solutions for development challenges, events like the Science and Engineering Fair demonstrate the critical role young innovators play in shaping the nation’s future.
By celebrating excellence and supporting STEM, the fair and its sponsors are helping to build a culture of innovation that can transform Kenya’s economic and social landscape.
