Impact Storytelling

We use Solutions Journalism to amplify social impact stories of change makers across Africa; stories of individuals, governments, community organisations who are making a positive impact in their communities.

  • The Philanthropy Story

We are passionate about helping philanthropists, grant-makers, and other social investors, amplify their work through powerful storytelling.

Philanthropy, the desire to promote the welfare of others or private initiatives for public good, has a deep history in Africa.

We are inspired to promote this noble practice and communicate the impact and positive social change through media content that includes written stories, powerful photos, videos, podcasts and infographics.

Through the power of storytelling, we seek to offer new ways to reach the public, promote audience engagement and encourage African philanthropic practice.

We remain true to solutions journalism which is rigorous and evidence-based reporting on the responses to social challenges.

We believe that through transformative journalism, we play a pivotal role in the promotion of community philanthropy.

We use the power of storytelling to support the process of gaining the support of community members on philanthropy, inspiring more people to take a positive part in addressing societal challenges and improving the quality of life in a community.

By celebrating and amplifying African philanthropy through storytelling, we inspire positive social impact and transform communities across the continent.

  • The Climate Story

Through the power of storytelling, we are inspired to shape the public discourse about climate change and how to respond to it. We strive to use journalism to build public support to accelerate climate mitigation – the efforts to reduce or prevent the emission of the greenhouse gases that are heating our planet.

Living to our commitment of being a force for good, we focus on not only the challenges but also the solutions, constructive framing, and engaging diverse voices.

We package stories for broader appeal and impact, including the use of visual and narrative techniques, evidence-based reporting, and collaboration strategies.

Effective communication on climate change is a multifaceted endeavor that requires

clarity, emotional engagement, scientific accuracy, and a focus on solutions. We endeavor to live to this in what we do.  Through our work in climate reporting, we aim to provide audiences with not only an understanding of the problems posed by climate change but also viable solutions and hopeful narratives that inspire action and resilience.

Our climate reporting approach not only informs but also motivates and mobilizes individuals and communities to participate actively in climate action, contributing to a more sustainable and equitable future.

  • The Diplomat Story/The Embassies Story

We are not only inspired but fully committed to tell the stories of how embassies, consulates and foreign missions are positively transforming the communities in the host countries around the continent. We tell stories of the positive impact in the communities as a result of the work embassies are doing in among other initiatives providing grants to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and civil society organizations (CSOs) to support projects in areas like education, healthcare, human rights, and environmental conservation.

We tell these stories with the understanding that embassies, the foreign missions and consulates not only assist with the country’s relationships, but they also aim to improve social and economic growth by strategic acts that connect people together.

Through public diplomacy, embassies, foreign missions and consulates are aggressively using private-sector partnerships to advance economic growth. Every day, there is collaboration between the diplomatic missions and technology businesses, all aimed at boosting innovation and economic progress. Through journalism, we directly connect governments to worldwide audiences, amplifying the projects and initiatives on the ground and how these activities are positively transforming lives and contributing to addressing the challenges the societies face.

  • Impact Videos

We combine the emotional power of storytelling with the visual impact of video to amplify social impact stories.

Through videos, we endear to hold people’s attention and make them feel invested in activities, projects or initiatives that are positively transforming lives across Africa.

The ability to create a strong emotional connection with audiences, makes it an unbeatable asset for showcasing what is impacting on communities we live in.

  • Infographics

We use infographics to amplify social impact stories. We believe that visual representations of data or ideas, using images, icons, and other design elements communicates information easily, quickly and effectively. By distilling complex topics into easily digestible graphics, infographics help us make sense of the social impact work within the communities. The data we choose to include in our infographic must be relevant, accurate, and credible. It should support the main message and goal, and highlight the problem, solution, and impact of the cause or project in focus.

  • Podcast

We use podcasting to share and amplify social impact stories. We use this intimate and personal medium to allow deep connections between the podcaster and their audience in amplification of stories of the change makers. Stories can evoke emotions, create empathy, and inspire change. As a podcaster, our goal is to craft compelling change maker stories that resonates with targeted audience. One of the advantages of storytelling in podcasting is its ability to create a sense of community. When listeners hear stories that resonate, they feel connected with the podcaster, the other listeners and the issues being discussed. This sense of community is powerful and transformative, leading to increased engagement and loyalty from the audience and communities.

  • In Pictures

We believe in powerful photography to provide a concrete, visual representation of the work of changemakers and how societies and communities are positively being transformed. Through photography, we are able to effectively communicate abstract ideas or complex narratives. There are impact stories that might be difficult to convey in simple terms, but the addition of photos helps break down language barriers and can be understood by people from different cultural and language backgrounds.

  • My Story

We focus on personal stories of change makers that inspire and ignite passion to positively change ourselves and the communities we live in. Good stories make impact and change societies because they help people find purpose and meaning. They connect with people and inspire them to live a better life. We use personal stories of changemakers to communicate a narrative for change because people are wired to respond emotionally to change. We tell personal stories to raise awarene about issues that need attention and action. Amplifying personal stories can help validate experiences and start a conversation about unspoken challenges, invoking thoughts on possible solutions to these challenges.
