Anjeline Oketch, a Health and Science reporter with Nation Media Group has been honoured with an award by the Quality Healthcare Forum and Awards.
Oketch is an experienced reporter passionate about investigative journalism, in the health and climate change areas.
She was honoured on April 6, 2024 in acknowledgement of her efforts to promote health and wellness through storytelling.
In one of her stories that led to her awarding, the journalist delved into the obstacles that Kenyans encounter when seeking cancer treatment.
The Quality Healthcare Kenyan Awards (QHKA) was started in 2017.
This is an initiative that recognizes and honors individuals and organizations for their contributions to the Kenyan health sector.
The awards also aim to improve the standards of health service delivery. The QHKA’s core values are integrity, commitment, inclusion, transparency, and accountability.
Oketch has occupied multiple positions in the media, presently serving as the Health Beat Leader at the Daily Nation.
Her Achievements include winner in health category during the Annual Journalism Excellence Awards (AJEA) 2017 organised by the Media Council of Kenya.
She also won the Art and Culture reporting during the Annual Journalism Excellence Awards (AJEA) 2015 and also winner of 2014 Red Ribbon award (print category) with the National Aids Control Council.
She also won the Reproductive Health and Gender reporting 2014 award with National Council Population and Development.
Her efforts have successfully stimulated the expansion of the Health Desk, resulting in an increased allocation of space for engaging health and science stories
