The New Africa Fund has opened applications for the 2026 Africa Fundraising Incubator (AFI), providing African civil society organizations with an opportunity to strengthen their fundraising capacity while accessing matching funds to grow their impact.
The programme is open to registered non-governmental organizations (NGOs), community-based organizations (CBOs) and social enterprises across all 54 African Union member states.
The incubator is designed to help organizations build sustainable fundraising systems by equipping them with practical skills to engage individual donors and expand local philanthropy.
Selected participants will begin with an online training programme focused on small-donor campaigns before taking part in a 30-day fundraising challenge.
Organizations that successfully mobilize funds during the challenge will be eligible for up to US$5,000 in matching funds, helping them scale community-driven fundraising efforts.
Up to 70 organizations will receive the foundational training, while the top-performing participants will be invited to Kigali, Rwanda, for a week-long intensive workshop covering grant writing, donor research, financial management, communications, marketing, donor stewardship and local fundraising strategies.
All participating organizations will also receive 12 months of free fiscal sponsorship, with the possibility of an extension based on performance.
Eligible applicants must be legally registered in an African Union member state and submit their registration documents alongside their latest external audit report or, where an audit is unavailable, five months of financial statements.
Applications opened on July 14 and will close on August 14, 2026.
