Across Africa, women have long played a vital role in strengthening communities through acts of giving, leadership and collective action.
Yet many of these contributions remain undocumented and underrecognised.
The Adɔyɛ Programme at the Centre on African Philanthropy and Social Investment (CAPSI), Wits Business School, is set to host a webinar exploring these stories under the theme “Celebrating Invisible Giants in Philanthropy.”
The conversation will highlight the experiences of African women whose generosity, resilience and community-driven efforts continue to shape the continent’s philanthropy landscape.
The webinar will also showcase The Invisible Giants, an initiative led by Adɔyɛ Fellow and Steering Committee Member Coumba Toure, which focuses on capturing and amplifying the stories, practices and impact of African women’s philanthropy.
Through the session, participants will explore the role of women in advancing social transformation and creating solutions within their communities, while reflecting on the importance of recognising forms of giving that often happen beyond traditional philanthropy spaces.
The event will bring together members of the philanthropy sector, researchers, community leaders and others interested in learning more about African-led approaches to social change.
It will provide an opportunity for dialogue, connection and knowledge sharing within the wider philanthropy community.
The webinar will take place on 30 July 2026 as part of CAPSI’s ongoing efforts to promote conversations around African philanthropy and locally driven solutions.
