African philanthropy and social entrepreneurship will be the focus of an upcoming webinar examining how locally developed solutions can access the support and resources needed to grow.
The virtual conversation, titled “Harnessing the Power of African Philanthropy for Social Entrepreneurship,” will take place on September 30, 2026, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. EAT.
The session is being organised by the Kenya Community Development Foundation (KCDF) and the Annual Africa Conference on Social Entrepreneurship (AACOSE).
Across Africa, social entrepreneurs and innovators are developing solutions to challenges in areas such as education, healthcare, agriculture, unemployment and climate change. However, promising ideas can struggle to access funding, networks, and other support needed to develop and reach more communities.
The webinar will explore how African philanthropy can play a stronger role in supporting these homegrown solutions and creating an environment where social entrepreneurs can develop sustainable responses to local challenges.
The organisers are also looking at how philanthropy can move beyond traditional giving to support social transformation, systemic change and sustainable development.
The conversation comes at a time of growing attention on locally led development and the role of African institutions and philanthropists in financing solutions developed within the continent.
