These shifts will be part of discussions at the 10th East Africa Philanthropy Conference (EAPC) scheduled for 16–20 June 2026 in Addis Ababa, where in Addis Ababa, where Melvin Chibole, Managing Director of TechSoup Africa, will be among the speakers.
TechSoup Africa works with civil society organisations to strengthen their digital capacity by providing access to technology tools, software solutions, and support services that improve how they operate, communicate, and manage internal processes.
Within this space, Chibole leads efforts to expand access to digital infrastructure for nonprofits, supporting the adoption of systems that improve efficiency, data use, and service delivery.
Apart from his work in digital infrastructure, Chibole has over 14 years of experience across development and civil society organisations in Kenya and the wider region, with a focus on communications, governance, organisational learning, and knowledge management.
Earlier in his career, he worked with the Kenya Community Development Foundation (KCDF), ActionAid International Kenya, and the United Nations Environment Programme, where his work focused on communications systems, institutional learning, and programme coordination within civil society settings.
Across these roles, his work has centred on improving how organisations function internally and how operational systems support delivery across programmes, particularly in contexts where efficiency and accountability are central to organisational performance.
This experience informs his current work, as the sector places greater emphasis on digital capability as part of broader efforts to strengthen civil society systems and improve how organisations respond to evolving operational demands.
At the same time, there is growing recognition that digital infrastructure is no longer a support function but a core part of how organisations deliver impact, engage stakeholders, and manage resources.
His contribution at the 10th EAPC sits at the intersection of technology and organisational practice, focusing on how digital tools shape the effectiveness of funding environments and the ability of organisations to operate at scale.
The conference is expected to further explore how digital transformation is reshaping civil society practice and what it means for organisational readiness in a funding environment that is increasingly shaped by technology.
